It's almost 9 a.m. and 36 degrees outside. The fireplace is going full-bore to take the chill off the air. I hear in the distance an airplane, like an annoying fly when you're trying to sleep, buzzing back and forth over the fields and swooping closely over the neighboring rooftops. That tells me, fall is right around the corner. The airplane carries a chemical that is killing the potato vines and that means POTATO HARVEST is coming! If 'mother nature' doesn't cooperate and freeze the potato vines, then the farmer steps in and does it with a chemical. That stops the growth of the potatoes so they don't get too big. If they didn't spray, you're potato, in the restaurant, would be the size of your entree plate! Everything is timed perfectly - these guys know what they're doing!

36???????????????????
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Ok let me in on the secret messages.
I AM NOT READY FOR WINTER!!!!
Ok I went back and reread it. No secret messages just an exchange about the degrees outside. Silly me!
Thanks for the 411 on the 101 of potatoes. I had no idea! In the 30's . Az is still in the 90's and in the 70's at night. We are still swimming. Our pool is just perfect 80 degrees. Lovely! However I do like the fall and winter. Love ya
For a minute there, I almost thought you were a Farm Girl!!
Did you grow up on a farm? Maybe you are a home grown farm girl.
My husband has quizzed me over the years on potatoes, the difference between wheat & barley fields, and I finally can tell the difference when it's all green. I didn't grow up on a farm, and so I was pretty dumb to it all!
I think living in Idaho for over 30+ years qualifies me for the title of "farm girl wanna-be" - I'm kinda of "weather-girl" as well - they go hand in hand, you know! Actually, I have a hard time knowing what is a wheat, barley field myself - Kandee, my daughter-in-law was a little impatient with me this summer while I mislabled several pics I put on - but she straightened me out!
Here I am a 'backyard garden girl' but knew diddly squat about the potato. Don't grow those in Cali. Great information! Yeah, even though I LOVE a delish baked potato, one the size of my plate would be too big! Great information. Thanks.
