Finally, the work was done, the money was earned and there was a birthday today! The little girl, with the tom-boyish grin, collected her earnings - one penny, nickel and dime at a time and was on her way. She felt like exploding inside with excitement as she inched her way closer and closer to her mother. "Mom! I'm taking you to lunch today!" and she held out her dirty little hand to show that her words were not an empty invitation. Her mother looked with surprise and together they headed to the local soda fountain.
"She'll have whatever she wants!" spouted the little girl as her short legs dangled from the soda fountain stools. Yes, she was obviously proud that she was grown-up enough to place an order for a melted cheese sandwich and a juicy hamburger - oh, and of course two malts with extra malt!

"The family"was busy today so I called mom and told her to reserve Friday for a movie, dinner and shopping - just the two of us.
There was a birthday today . . . and we celebrated - TOGETHER!

What a great way to spend your day. You are lucky that your Mom lives close by. I love to shop & eat with my Mom when we get the chance. So much fun!
