new verses old

Check out the date to the left of center!  How's your math . . . okay, okay I'll do it for you - 304 years old . . .

It's thick gnarly chain I love, love, love.  The coin is pretty true-to-size in the pictures above - a substantial size.  Not sure how much it's worth - looked around on line a little to try and find some info but no luck . . .

I went shopping today down south.  I bought myself a few new things!  Novel!  Over the years I've given up shopping and such to clothe and feed {7} kids!  Therefore, I was always put last in line in the 'let's go shopping' program!  After so many years of 'doing without', it's actually hard to get back into it - really!  I bought a cute necklace from Target (pretty cheap) and admired it because of it's shinny silver graduated balls clustered together on a chain!  It's new and shiny and sparkly.

It got me thinking of the necklaces I have in my jewelry case.  I got out one, in particular, that's always been a favorite of mine!  When I was about {7} years old a German friend of my mother invited us over to her house.  Four things I remember - her German shepherd dog, her thick German accent, her delicious German pastry we ate and a beautiful German coin necklace she gave me!  She didn't have any children - so she wanted to give me something to remember her.  I've never forgotten her - Mitzi was her name.  I laid the two necklaces side-by-side and the heavy, thick-chained coin necklace is still my favorite!

Wow..what a sweet post. We have several German treasures as well, since that's where Kenny's Dad was born & raised. That one special necklace.
